Years ago, when the first Excalibur's came out, I had just gotten a settlement from an insurace company, I had barrowed money from my uncle, he lives in Monterey,Ca about a mile from the beach, I had hunt the beach with him many times, useing a Sovrine, and a Whites PI, both of us had found many good rings and different jewlery in the past, I asked him if he wanted the money or, I could get him a new Excalibur, the one with the horse shoe coil, he said"I'll take the detector" So I called Rob Boomer up the local Minelab dealer and ordeed two from him. One for my uncle and one for me. About two weeks went by, and Rob called and said they were in. He brought them by my house that evening, the following weekend, I was headed to Monterey. When I got there, I had mine already put together, and Batteries charged on both units. Right away my uncle assembled his. Later that night{we like to hunt Carmel beach by night} we got up about 1:00 am and headed to the beach. The winter storms had made a nice cut on the beach about 6 ft. The sand was really hard packed, which is what you want during a cut, almost down to bedrock in places. Well my wife and I have kind of a fun game going, on the way to Monterey I always ask her"Well what kind of ring do you want me to find you this time} as I have found her boxes of very nice diamond rings. She said" Find me a Ruby and Diamond ring, I don't have any Rubies" Well to continue, my uncle and I pulled into the parking area down by Carmel beach, I was busy getting my pouch on and getting my sand scoop. He was ready and headed down the beach. I walked from the parking lot to a flat area, and set my Excalibur down to put my headphones on, and then turned the detector on. Boy there was a really loud sound in my headphones, I thought something was wrong. So I turned the excalibur of and moved over a bit. Turned it back on, and everything seemed ok. So I went back over where I got the loud sound the first time, I waved the coil over it and it gave that low sounding nickel sound. So I took my scoop and dug down, raised the scoop and no sound. I though ok. I have a nickel in the scoop. I took the maglite out of my pocket, and shined it down in the scoop, Holy cow I said! its a ring! not only a ring, but a 14KT gold ring with 5 diamonds and 5 Burmise Rubies. I brought it to my wife that morning after the hunt, She was happy. She took it to a local jewler, and he said it was worth about $800.00 retail. Made my day!

The Minelab Excalibur II is the best metal detector I have ever used. I have been out with it six times and found my first gold ring. It was a beautiful nine carrot Irish Family Crest Seal Ring. For my first gold find I couldn't have asked for a nicer ring, especially since I am Irish myself. I will have to hang on that ring as you it as my good luck charm each time I go into the water. I was about 50 yards of shore in waist deep water when I found it. You pretty much just turn it on and go.

I have other detectors that I use on land but a friend of mine allowed me to use is Excalibur and I was hooked on the how easy it was to use. When I got home that night I signed onto Kellyco and started looking at them. They next day I ordered it off your toll free number and I received it in less then a week. I am completely satisfied with Kellyco from the order to the product.

It's truly amazing on all the things sitting in the ocean for you to discover. If you have been a land lover such as me, go find out how easy it is to get hooked on the water with a Excalibur. Besides finding many coins I have also found a pistol, two pocket knives many other marks that keep me busy digging.

I can't wait to get out there today to start my vacation. I am heading to Nags Head, NC in the morning and planning to be in the water the whole time. I have used it on land a couple of times and I have had great success with it there as well.

If you love going to the beaches then the Excalibur is the metal detector for you.

I go beach combing on a regular basis with my Minelab Excalibur II.

I really like the fact that it is waterproof. When you are digging deep, there are no worries when a wave washes in. I have a friend that I go with who owns a metal detector, made by another manufacturer, and I can go over the same area that they searched and still find things they missed. So far I have just found some change and a lot of trash (I dig every target and search the hole again).

I have found the long battery life to be a major plus, especially since I hunt a spot for four or five hours at a time and have never had a related problem. This detector searches deep!

The only thing that I have a problem with is getting used to the detector changing tone for no apparent reason. I haven't used it diving yet but plan to do so soon. I recommend doing as the manufacturer says to bury different targets so you can get used to the sounds. Yes this is a great metal detector and I would recommend this to anyone in an wet environment. I keep my discrimination turned down so it will pick up everything. When digging on treasure beaches you don't want to take a chance at missing anything.

I've been detecting on land for 15 years and for 3 years in the water. Last year, I gave my Fisher 1280X to my wife and I got a Minelab Excalibur II and I'm amazed. The best I did in a season with my 1280X was 22 rings. My first summer with the Excalibur II produced 76 rings from the same beaches I hunted before! Best of all, I found my first Morgan dollar! The "iron mask" feature rocks! Just in case some of you are thinking I short changed my wife, the 1280X is a very good machine too. And she is very happy with it and the new diamond rings I found for her with the Excal. It doesn't get any better than this!!

I bought my first metal detector from Kellyco in 1979 it was a bounty hunter I used this detector for many years. I went on a treasure hunt back in the 70's with Kellyco to the Dade massacre. I found a lot of musket balls on that trip. Since then I have bought a Garrett Master Hunter treasure talk. I have found numerous coins and relics, and recently I bought a Minelab Excalibur II. This is by most the best detector I have ever owned.

I thought it be fun to start detecting the beach. Most of the people I see detecting are on dry sand. Well let me tell you the Minelab Excalibur is the ultimate metal detector, since I can now detect in the water. I have found jewelry and relics in the surf. The surf has covered me and my detector.

The detector works excellent never had any problems. I have a four year warranty on the unit but I don't think I will ever use it. After detecting for the day I brought it home and hosed it off with the garden hose. By far the Minelab Excalibur is the best detector for the money. I was really did not want to spend the money for the detector but you get what you pay for. I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I would not buy from any other dealer, because simply put: Kellyco is the best. I have always bought my supplies from Kellyco; they always have every thing you need. I had an indicator cap for a knob fall off of my detector in the surf. . I went to Kellyco but they did not have anymore in stock. The sales rep took one off the display model and gave it to me, did not cost me a dime.
