The Fisher F5 is extremely easy to use. Once you read the instructions, possibly watch a Youtube video, you can easily make adjustments, discriminate, ground balance and so on. I have had my F5 for 6-8 months now and love every minute of it. I typically find a lot of clad with an occasional older coin. I get a screen depth of about 8" in my soil (Northern California), but faint audio goes down to around 10 or 11". Pinpointing is a breeze with the stock coil and is accurate down to around 6". This detector was a great starting detector and a very good detector for the experienced.

Add-ons: The F5 has a limited amount of accessories, but that is because it really doesn't need them. I did buy the 11" DD coil, which does cover more ground than the stock concentric... but to be honest the stock coil does a great job and gives more depth.

Bottom line: An excellent detector that is easy to use. I highly recommend this detector.

This Detector is for the most part as good as everyone says with one exception. I can't detect the coins below the 6 inch depth. I have tested it over and over on different settings. Gain levels, threshold levels make no difference and it will not detector a dime at 6 inches or a quarter at 7 inches during many different tests, air or ground tests. It is not the machine I thought I was getting. Yes, it will find coins/jewelry all day long in right places just nothing below that 5-6-7 inch range on down. It could be I've just got a bad one. But I have to write on what I have. IT is NOT User error as everyone tries to blame it on. Been detecting for 30 years.

I would definitely recommend this detector to a beginner or pro. I am a newbie and me and my fiance just found a 1791 spanish half reale. Something to consider is the size of a spanish half reale. It is a very small coin, and at over 8 inches deep, all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!. This is with the 10 inch coil also.

This unit is very easy to use ! This detector has a good deep and automatic ground balance, multi-segment target, deep indicator, pinpoint function, so what you want more for 200$! I got 4 years of experience and I had 5 detectors but this Fisher is one of my best!
