I like the water so the Excalibur series and Fisher's CZ20 are my favorite detectors. I am just getting used to the Excalibur but the Fisher products have found most of my finds.

I scuba dive, so I have to have a submersible detector. Diving for coins and rings is what I like to do best, but I'm thinking about Garrett's Infinium LS and also slide nugget hunting in to my fortes. I like what works and gets results, so I'm not manufacturer specific, but a good name brand with good statistics and results helps decide my choice for purchases.

I would like to search for coins and other historical objects. I live in the Massachusetts area and have heard that there is alot of history in this area. I would love to explore and find items that others could enjoy to fill some of the voids in this gap of the New England history. This would provide others with the sense and feel of attempting to engage in hunting. It would become very relaxing along with filling a void in anothers life as to what they need to explore as a hobby.

I have been detecting for 16 years now. I don't know what drew me to metal detecting other than seeing a detector displayed in a store near my home. I lived near the river at the time and thought that would be a fun thing to do.

While I was in the store, I met a man who said there is a detecting club in your hometown and I decided to join the club. I met a guy there that had an Excalibur and he said it was a great machine and let me try his at the beaches here in N.J.

I liked the way it performed and how it went very deep for targets. It sure outshined all the detectors that I have ever used and so far have ever used. I like the way the tones are different to let you know what you are digging before you even dig the target. The main thing that I like about this machine is its ease of use.

I also love the way it glides through the water during my surf hunts. I have found many coins from shipwrecked coins to the common clad coins and have made some exceptional jewelry finds and this machine has paid for itself over and over again. I actually own 3 Excaliburs.

I have one as a back up and my son uses the other one. So you can see that we are a Minelab family! In my opinion, their technology is by far the best out there. This detector is the only one that I would recommend for beach and surf hunting. So grab yourself a Minelab Excalibur and get out there and find your own treasures!

About one year ago, I purchased the Minelab Excalibur 1000 from Kellyco. I detected the local swimming areas near my home. I did not keep track of the coins found, however at the end of the summer I sent most, but not all the gold and silver jewelry I found to one of the refineries. In turn, I received a check for just fewer than eighteen hundred dollars!

This easily paid for the machine. I was sharing these swimming areas with three other detectorists and out performed all of them. Two were using Fishers and one was using a Whites. One of the folks using a Fisher scoffed at my purchase at first, however he ordered an Excalibur within three weeks of seeing my results. The clincher for him was a small gold stud earring I found in about six or seven inches of sand and clay. He asked to see how his machine read the earring. The results were that he could not get a reading at all from the earring.

Also, the other detectorists were always digging up hair clips and bottle caps that I passed right over and did not dig because I knew what they were. I have been detecting for forty two years and this was my first under water machine. I feel I am still learning the Excalibur and yet I was able to out perform all of the other detectorists.

I am planning a trip this summer to Costa Rica and cannot wait to see what those wonderful beaches provide. I will have ten days to two weeks to find out. Thank you!
