My initial purchase of a Fisher Gold Bug Special Edition entitled me to Kellyco's BOGO offer, so I chose the Titan 2000XD. I didn't expect a REALLY GOOD detector ......after all, who sells good detectors at less than 50% of the retail price???? After my unit arrived, I took it to the high school a block away from my house and found a few dollars in "lunch money" near the football field (checking under bleachers is a great place to look). The Titan is lightweight, easy to adjust and use. The manual does mention that some brands of 9V batteries may be a tight fit and found that true with my Ray-O-Vac 9V alkies. A few taps with a small hammer on the bottom of one battery fixed the problem. All in great detector for a beginner or someone who knows something about the hobby!!!

My wife wanted to get me a metal detector for Christmas but we were on a very tight budget. I'd found several detectors on CraigsList for less than $100 but after finding out the model realized I did not want to go that route.

I came across the Titan 2000 XD refurbished being sold here by KellyCo. I talked to my wife and showed her all of my research. Though it was higher than our budget, the free shipping helped and the promise to make the item 'like new' along with reviews was encouraging.

I took it out on one of our hikes for no other reason than to get accustomed to ground balancing and the feel of the swing. So every interesting rock formation brought the detector out for searching. For much of the day I did a great job of clearing the desert of human detritus and enjoyed the discovery that the coil even read the can from the side at a distance. So I learned I needed to remove the trash.

At the end of the day, I walked an area that led up to the ridge we thought we wanted to reach and started swinging the area. In one spot I got a reading unlike anything I'd gotten previously. The ground was uncharacteristically loose and a loose stone helped me to further loosen things up for the 4" depth the detector showed. Then the most exciting moment came when the detector said I had the item in my hand. Turns out it was an old, lead bullet possibly from an 1860's handgun that was nestled beneath several stones and 4 inches of soil. The detector looked like new, functioned like new, had no battery draw when powered off, and put out a unique sound when not encountering hot rocks.

Thanks Kelly Co.

I bought one of these from Kellyco on a sale along with my Minelab underwater detector. I needed to do some rehab and figured I could do some walking on the beach and burn a few calories at the same time. After using the heavy Minelab, I opted to do more on the sand with the Titan, It is great! I turn up the sensitivity, discriminate out everything through the nickles, and off I go. If the screen says there is a quarter 7 inches down, it is there, every time. I find alot of change at the beach, not much jewelry of value. I do have the excitement of looking for something that hits as silver, only to find a buried beer can, and one time kneeling on my knee trying to find something that kept beeping, I dug for 15 minutes only to finally figure out it was detecting my knee replacement! I have had to adjust my stride sweeping to avoid that. It does false beep if it taps the ground, and I did have an issue with it not working one day and Kellyco had me contact the mfg and it was repaired quickly.
Sadly, last week my van was broken into at home and my Titan was stolen along with everything else of value. I will be buying another of the same model to replace it. I rocks.
