I volunteer at Florida State Parks which are either at or near beaches for months at a time. I have had the Beach Magnet for a year now, and love it. This is the second metal detector I have owned. I use it about 10 hours per week, and have collected bags of coins and other treasures with it, enough to pay for it! It operates so efficiently that it can go for a month or two without ever having to worry about recharging the batteries.
Public beaches contain many pop-tops and bottle caps. Were it not for the adjustable discrimination meter, I would waste most of my time digging up junk. This feature alone justifies the price of the unit. The metal detector works just as well in the water as on land. Coins are what I find most, but I have found rings designed for nearly every part of the body, cell phones, knives, an Ipod, watches, necklaces, cigarette lighters, fishing tackle, keys, nail clippers, and all sorts of other metallic goodies which are normally carried in a pocket or purse. My nicest find thus far has been a small gold ring with a diamond and two rubies. I find enough toys to keep the grandchildren well supplied.
My wife likes to read and walk when we go to the beach. Having the metal detector keeps me quite happy while enabling me to get a little exercise to boot.
I recently broke the arm support, and Kelly Co. was right there to ship the replacement parts to me via next day shipment. You can have the best metal detector in the world, but it won't do you any good unless it is backed by a professional support staff. Cobra's Beach Magnet and Kelly Co. are a winning combination.

Within eight hours of use, (with my Cobra Beach and Land Metal Detector) the plastic shaft that attaches to the coil broke. Kellyco was very good at replacing it free of charge. Within four months, the coil wire connecting to the unit was malfunctioning. I had to send it back to Kellyco again.
My friend owns a 1984 Fisher Aquanaut; it detects items the Beach Cobra misses. In my opinion, pay a few dollars more and get the Aquanaut 1280.
Kellyco is a great place to do business, friendly, knowledgeable, and more than happy to meet all your detecting needs.
