I guess I'm what you call a Newbie. This was my detector. I spend a long time looking at all the different makes and models. I called Kellyco many times and was pleased that the people I spoke to were so polite and helpful. It boiled down to what I was willing to spend and what I wanted to find, which was a lot of money and gold jewelry. The MP's was great. I found it a snap to put together. The instructions were so good I was using the detector in less than an hour after getting it. I like the fact that the whole machine is light as can be, I was worried that it might be too heavy, but it was not. I took it to the nearest schoolyard and I had the most fun ever. I found over 40 coins plus a gold bracelet and what looks to be an old silver cross. I have to clean it to make sure. Next day, I went to a park where I continued to find lots of coins some that were silver were dug at over 7 or 8 inches. I found 3 keys, a gold wedding band, and pieces of a broken necklace. It was a fun day.

I was asked if I would recommend this detector, and I definitely would for anyone just starting out and maybe for someone that just wants an easy to use machine that finds good stuff.
