I have used the 300 to find coins on the El Capitana off of Ecuador. It performed as well as the Aqua Pulse detectors the other divers were using. It is very sensitive, I have also used it in other Pacific sites to recover copper, silver and gold coins from several sites. I highly recommend this detector.

I moved to Florida when My oldest boy was 14. He had seen people on the beach; talked to them, and some of them would let them try their detectors. They had several different kinds: but, there were two older men who had Whites and recommended it for my young boys as it was easier to use and not as heavy as others. I purchased one at a local dealership along with headphones and two different types of diggers.

My four boys ( 14,10,8,7) and I had three years of beach combing fun with it even though we only found beer tabs and an occasional quarter. We devised a game where every one had fifteen minutes at a time and at the end of the day the one with the most tabs got a prize. It would be something like control of the TV for the night or no house duty (dishes, sweeping, dusting , bathrooms ) for the week.

I am now retired and my boys are all grown and I find myself gravitating back toward this hobby. I read and sometimes purchase an occasional magazine at a local book store. I also enjoy all of the information on your web sight as well as others. I have not found any dealer (as of yet) in this area.

I hope to win this prize or a gift cirtificate so that I can pick up this hobby again. I think wheather I find something or not the exercise, fresh air, and the people you meet; will be a welcome for a retired woman of my age.

Before I bought anything, I wanted to try the Whites Beach hunter out in the field. So I borrowed my friends and took it out to a local river in the Sierras to try my luck. I have to say that this detector is easy to use. The discrimination features and target identification is excellent. The site I searched is a famous swim hole used by locals and tourists to the area. I would recommend this detector to beach/sand and shallow water hunters. I recovered many clad coins, a few rings including one silver and one gold wedding band. I was very impressed with the detectors capabilities but disappointed with its limit on how deep it goes. I prefer Whites detectors because they make a great product and back it with great service and warranty. But unfortunately Whites at the present moment does not make an underwater metal detector that goes beyond 25 feet. If they did, I would have purchased one.
