Presently I do not own a metal detector. I use a friend of mine, He has a Whites GMT, and we nugget shoot. I find the GMT is easy to tune and ease of use. I really liked the fact of metal detecting, not only is it fun, it also gives me the opportunity of getting out of the house. We have an area that we detect, with all of the research that we have done, from archives, and history, both factual and rumor. We have narrowed down an area of about one square mile. But right now there is about 20 feet of snow in the area, sort of hampers any kind of searching now. We packed in on foot in the past, but I think any further searches will be done the use of Mules, to carry not only us, but all of our supplies. The area that we search is high in materials that usually causes some machines that my friend has tried to be had to alleviate the background noise. Since he has gotten the GMT, it is easy to tune and balance the machine. We have found nuggets in the stream, that is the drainage for the area, that we intend to search this summer. I don't have all that much experience but for know of the GMT, I find it easy for a relative new individual to this hobby, to operate the detector. I have and would continue to recommend this unit to anyone that will listen to me..Thank You.

I purchased my White's GMT DD detector used and it was made for sears so none of the the names fit and I chose one under white's because they made this one. It was my very first and only detector but I loved it and it produced very nicely for this beginner. There are many old foundations around me here in NY and I found so many interesting items with this detector. Old pocket watches, lead toys, indian head penny, 1907 quarter, horse bells, locket-neckless, a bullet that didn't fire, as I said so many different items and each one had my heart just pounding with excitement, YEEEE HAWWW LOOK AT THIS! I had so much fun with this old detector and it wasn't even a top of the line just an off brand by WHITE'S that is why I highly respect these White's people, thank you White's. Now for the part that I am really writting this for. I was at home one day when I got a call from a freind, he said (in a very conserned voice) John I herd you have a metal detector. This guy use to make fun of me and couldn't figure why anyone would waste time with those things. (he who laughs last LOL) He said his sister lost a very exspensive ring wial swimming in a pond and was wondering if my detector would work in water? I didn't know if it would but heck I was ready to make him eat his words if I could. Long story short - I put the coil into the water all the way up to the detector box and started moving it around when YEEEE HAWWW guess what? Beep Beep and up came the ring. That day I became the hero for his sister and what a feelin Thank you White's company.
